Eleven artists from Ms. Ginexi's Studio Art classes were recently honored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County, having their artwork selected and published in their 2024 Calendar and Journal.
Teaching horticulture is one part of what the Cornell Cooperative does for Nassau County residents, and the calendar serves as a guide with best practices for maintaining gardens and plant life that thrive on Long Island. The contest, for which students were invited to create nature-inspired artwork to appear on the calendar pages, was opened to all Nassau County School Districts. This was Cornell's 3rd year holding the contest and creating the calendar, and the 2nd year students from Ms. Ginexi's classes participated and featured their artwork.
This year, earning a "Gold Level Award" with their artwork featured as one of the calendar's 12 monthly pages is Kasha Malanowski - featured for May—Dylan Reyna - featured for August; and Emily Villatoro - featured for October.
Receiving the "Silver Level Award," with their artwork appearing on the collage page, are Natalia Adams, Morris Davidson III, Lily Defendini (with two pieces selected), Giuliana Depascale, Harleen Kaur, and Liana Libretto.
Presented with the "Bronze Level Award" and having their artwork appear throughout the calendar are Morris Davidson III, Sophia Lombardo, and Analia Ortega.
These talented artists, who now attend Farmingdale High School, were invited to an Art Exhibit and Reception this past October, where they had the opportunity to view their pieces on display, discuss their work, and receive calendars and certificates.
