Career and Technical Education Philosophy
The Farmingdale School District strongly supports preparing students to be successful in the ever-changing world we live in. This means not only their college readiness but more importantly, their career readiness. Our Career and Technical Education programs offer students the opportunity to engage in a variety of subjects incorporating academic, creative and technical skills with the specific goal of preparing students for life that comes after high school.

Earn College Credits Through CTE Courses At Farmingdale High School

Farmingdale School District, Farmingdale State College of New York and Suffolk County Community College have established an articulation agreement for students successfully completing courses taken at Farmingdale High School. Students successfully completing the requirements for each course are eligible to earn college credits for the course by paying the college's reduced registration fee.

CTE Pathway to an Advanced Regents Diploma
According to the New York State Education Commissioner’s Regulations, 100.5 Diploma Requirements, students may earn an advanced Regents diploma through CTE.

"Students completing a five-unit sequence in career and technical education or the arts (visual arts, music, dance, and theater) are not required to complete the additional two units of the language other than English requirement for the Regents diploma with advanced designation but must still meet the requirements for the total number of units of credit.”
